At the presser of Pushpa: The Rule in Hyderabad on Thursday, producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar have stated that the film will be arriving in cinemas one day earlier than the original date of December 6, with premiers set to begin in the US on December 4 itself. The makers said the idea is to cash in on a long weekend and it was at the behest of their distributors a call to this end was taken.
At the same time, Naveen took to clarify that the film made a whopping Rs 400 crore in terms of non-theatrical revenue, which includes other forms like digital rights, satellite rights and music rights. “We had done business of Rs 400 crore. The exact figure is Rs 420 crore,” Naveen said.
His partner Ravi Shankar on the other hand said that non-theatrical and theatrical put together, the film had done a business of more than Rs 1,000 crore. “Pushpa 2 had done the highest non-theatrical business for an Indian film. The films which release in the future might cross its record but until date it had done the highest business in terms of non-theatrical revenue. The anticipation around the film is huge and Rs 1,000 crore business is pretty much achievable,” he said.
Set in the backdrop of red sanders smuggling in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh, Pushpa: The Rule, as the name indicates, will see Pushpa’s reign as he encounters familiar names who try to block his rapid ascent. Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Sunil and Anasuya are reprising their parts once again; with new additions include Jagapathi Babu and Saurabh Sachdeva. Devi Sri Prasad is the composer.
