The Oscars, considered one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry, have now added a new category. From now on, awards will also be given in the Stunt Design category, as officially announced by the Academy. Films releasing from 2027 onwards will be considered for this new category.
Speaking about this development, Academy organizers said: “Since the beginning of cinema, stunt design has been an integral part of filmmaking. We are proud to honor the creative artists in this category in a unique way.” They stated that this new category will officially be introduced at the 100th Academy Awards. Film industry professionals have expressed happiness over this decision.
As part of announcing the new Oscars category, a poster was released. Interestingly, it featured an image from the Indian film ‘RRR’ alongside Hollywood films. This inclusion is significant and noteworthy. The poster highlighting the Stunt Design category showcased stunt visuals from three films — Everything Everywhere All at Once, RRR, and Mission Impossible. Telugu audiences were delighted by this recognition, with many commenting that this is a proud moment for Indian cinema.
It’s already well-known that the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from RRR, directed by Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and NTR, won the Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
