Slotted for a release on February 7th, Thandel happens to be the most expensive film of Naga Chaitanya’s career. The remunerations, production cost and publicity put together, the total budget of the film will be around Rs 80 cr. So naturally the next film of Chay will be mounted on a budget bigger than Thandel, right? And guess what, it is happening, our sources tell us exclusively.
Chay will be collaborating with Virupaksha helmer Karthik Varma Dandu for his next, which will be a joint production venture between BVSN Prasad’s Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings. The project is a mythical thriller based on some myths in our mythology and it will see the makers spending megabucks. “The untitled film will be the biggest budgeted film of Chay’s career. After taking everything into consideration, the makers felt the film will cost Rs 110 cr to make, including the remuneration of actors and technicians. The story demands such an amount and the makers want to do justice to it. Also, the film will be high on computer graphics and out of the Rs 110 cr, 30-35 cr will be spent on CG alone,” a source close to the development confirmed to us.
The film had a low-key muhurat sometime back in Hyderabad and the makers are looking to take it to floors next month. “The first schedule will last for a week, with Hyderabad set to host it. The second schedule will begin after Sankranti. The film will be extensively shot in Mysore and Gujarat. The idea is to wrap it up by July,” the source added.
The source further revealed that it is a standalone project and has no connection whatsoever with Virupaksha. “The reports about it being Virupaksha 2 are untrue. Karthik has worked on the screenplay of this project for more than a year. The makers are confident that its impact will be double to that of Virupaksha,” the source concludes.
Lucky Baskhar girl Meenakshi Chaudhary has been cast opposite Chaitanya in the film.
