Featuring the likes of Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj and Ritika Nayak, Mirai, written and directed by Karthik Gattamneni, is one of the anticipated films of next year. The supporting roster of the film already includes Jagapathi Babu, prominent Hindi actor Rajendranath Zutshi (Lagaan fame) and Venkatesh Maha, while Mr. Majnu fame Niddhi Agerwal sizzled in a special number in Sri Lanka recently. And now adding more weight and star power to the supporting department is Shriya Saran, idlebrain.com has learnt exclusively.

A source close to the development tells us, “Shriya is playing a supporting role in the film. In the context of the narrative, her character holds a lot of importance. Her character graph and the look prompted the actress to come on board. She has shot for a little less than a week so far in Hyderabad and is required again.”

The source adds that the film is presently on sets in Hyderabad and this schedule will go until December 21 or 23. “Talkie portion is being shot. It’s a night call sheet. Ramoji Film City and different parts of the city will host this leg.”

Mirai is based on King Ashoka and his secret 9, with Teja playing a Super Yodha whose sole responsibility is to protect the nice sacred scriptures, whereas Manoj plays Black Sword, a skilled swordsman who is on a mission to take control of the nine scriptures that could transform a person into a God, setting the stage for an epic clash between good and evil.

Karthik Gattamneni has also penned the film’s screenplay alongside Manibabu Karanam, who worked on the former’s Eagle as well. TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory is producing the film which is slotted for a release next summer in 2D and 3D formats, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Chinese languages.
