Taking the film industry by surprise, Income Tax officials on Tuesday initiated raids at the residence of leading producer Dil Raju. The raids are taking place at Raju’s properties in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills, as well as at the residences of his partner Shirish and daughter Hanshitha Reddy.

Dil Raju had two releases for the Sankranti festival. While his big-budgeted Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, fizzled out in cinemas after a good first day, his other release, Sankranthiki Vastunnam, has proved to be a box office behemoth, grossing more than Rs 203 crore so far and rewriting film records.

Dil Raju was recently appointed as the Chairman of Telangana Film Development Corporation by the state government.

Raids were also carried out at the residences and offices of Mythri Movie Makers' chiefs, including Naveen Yerneni, Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, and CEO Cherry. The banner is behind Pushpa 2, one of the biggest grossing Indian cinemas ever. They also have big projects like Prabhas-starrer Fauji (tentative title), NTR’s next with Prashanth Neel and Ram Pothineni’s next. Their next big release, however, is Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar-starrer Good Bad Ugly.

Producer Abhishek Agarwal’s offices too are being raided by the IT sleuths. He was associated with films like The Kashmir Files and Tiger Nageswara Rao.

According to reports, 65 teams of IT department have been pressed into service to carry out these raids.
